Finals:
School Winners are encouraged to read their own entries at the finals to be held March 5, 6:30 pm, Mick Kelly's Irish Pub.
A panel of 3 judges will decide the grand prize winner. Panel includes Burien Mayor Joan McGilton, NP Councilman Shawn McEvoy and Seattle Councilman Mike O'Brien.
The finals will be sure to be a good time for all.
School Office Support:
Provide an official entry box for student entries (see example below). Perhaps an art class can assist.
Please determine your own method for selecting the finalist from your school. Email the schools final entry to Kristen Kerns kristenwynnkerns@hotmail.com by Wed, March 3rd.

Contest Rules:
- Each school in the Highline School District is eligible to submit exactly one entry
- Entries must be composed by an currently enrolled Highline District student (high school or younger)
- For consideration, entries must be appropriate for general audiences (Rated "G")
- To select an entry for consideration in the finals, eligible schools are encouraged to conduct a school-wide contest
- A school's final entry must be received by Wed, March 3rd for consideration in the final
- Final entries must be on official school letterhead and be signed by a verifiable school official (preferably the principal)
- For consideration, final entries must be submitted at Mick Kelly's Irish Pub in Burien by closing on Wed, March 3
- The official 2010 Race Limerick will be chosen from all the school finalists on Fri, March 5th @ 6:30 pm at Mick Kelly's Irish Pub
- The winning entry will be selected by an "Official Limerick Selection Panel" composed of 3 non-partisan judges
- The "Official Limerick Selection Panel" judges will be appointed by the School Limerick Contest commitee chair
- No member of the "Official Limerick Selection Panel" may have an immediate family member enrolled student at an eligible school
- No member of the "Official Limerick Selection Panel" may be an employee of an eligible school
- No member of the "Official Limerick Selection Panel" may have an immediate family member employed at an eligible school
- Finalists are encouraged to come to the public reading to read their own limerick to judges
- Judges may consider the age of the composer and crowd reaction
- Judges may pre-read entries to consider the appropriateness of reading them aloud at the final reading
- Judges may reject an entry for reasons not mentioned here, if they deem it to be racist or otherwise inappropriate
- Decisions made by the judges are final
- Limerick do not have to follow precisely the rules for composing a limerick
- The winning entry will be read aloud to inspire the runners immediately prior to the race start
